Lindale Lurch

After the snow of December it was good to be able to get out and about again, albeit with a rather foggy day.  A few West Lancs members boosted our numbers and given a not very inspiring day we had  a good turn out.

Nicky and Ian enjoy the Newton Fells because they can see them from their house windows, and were determined to share their experiences with the group, dspite the odd wall which gets in the way.  This led to a fair bit of cussing and muttering as the shorter legged ones amongst us struggled to get a leg over.  But we made it along the ridge before the rain, so that was a result.

Having tackled the tricky stuff, we came down a bit to visit Seatle.  No not that one, rather a smaller afair in the folds of the hills between Cartmel and High Newton.  Ayside and Seatle are lovely little communities, often overlooked by walkers heading for the hills and worth a trip.

Tarns, woodland and meandering paths took us along to Cartmel, where the Sticky Toffee Pudding shop had just opened a new cafe.  Well, it would have been rude not to pop in!  So we did, and enjoyed it immensely but were not at all keen to come out after.

We managed to upset a golfer (score ten points for that!) crossing the Grange course, and heading into very misty weather along the top of Hampsfell before returning to Lindale.  It was a good walk, well known to many of us but always lovely whatever the weather.
