Milnthorpe Meander - A Game of Hide and Seek!

This beautiful walk, taking in Arnside, Silverdale, Yealand Conyers, Leighton Moss aned the Fairy Steps, turned into a bit of a game of hide and seek.

Ron, Ann and Margaret, living in Arnside, decided they would not join the throng at the start, but would make their lives easier by having a lie in and tagging along part way through - ie closer to Arnside.  They therefore met at the appropriate rendezvous point, and waited.  And waited a bit more.  Eventually a decision was made that the others were not coming. Ron and Ann set off for a wander, whilst Margaret decided to make the most of things by climbing Arnside Knott and sitting to enjoy the views whilst taking an early lunch.  Butties were all eaten up and Margaret was enjoying the view, when around the corner..... came the group.  Hoorah a walk after all, but hang on a minute, what about provisions!

Frank led the group on a beautiful route which very cleverly missed out all the pubs, shops and cafes in Arnside and Silverdale.  Quite an achievement. Not so handy though, if you have not just eaten all your butties.

The moral of this tale perhaps is - if you plan to meet a walk mid-way on, always take two lunches?

PS Ron and Ann were never seen again - but phew, there were sightings of them at the AGM.

The ones that didn't escape!
