Greenwich Meridian Trail - Part IV Cutty Sark to Ravensbourne

Route: Meet Cutty Sark DLR station. Through Greenwich, Blackheath, Beckenham Place Park and other green spaces in south east LondonFinish Ravensbourne train station.
 
 Notes: This is the fourth of a series of mid-week walks covering the sections of the Greenwich Meridian Trail (GMT) which fall within the M25. (The GMT is a route which follows as near a possible the zero degree longitude/Prime Meridian line.)

Saturday 1st August
Burnham-on-Crouch to Southminster - KCIII Coastal Path Pt VI
 
Event Type: Group Walk. 
 
Region: Southern England / London
 
Distance: 26 miles
 
Start Time:  9:20
 
Route: Meet at Burnham-on-Crouch station. 08:13 train from Liverpool Street changing at Wickford. This is the last in a series of walks heading east and north along the coastal path. The route goes through the Dengie National Nature Reserve. At the halfway point we will visit the Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall built in AD 660. The route is flat. Finish at Southminster station.

 

Notes: No easy bail out options. No shops on the route. Bring adequate food and drink for a long day.

Kentish Delights - A Kent Group joint out of town circular

Event Type: Group Walk. 

Region: Southern England / Kent
 
Distance: 19 miles
 
Start Time: 8:40
 
Route: Meet at Westenhanger railway station. Car parking at the station or on the slip road just before the station. Train from London St. Pancras at 7.40, change at Ashford International or the 7.13 train direct from London Bridge. Short platform - listen to announcements. Aiming to finish for the 16.49 hourly return train to London. Hilly morning on the North Downs, woodlands and meadows in the afternoon. Some paths are indistinct, ploughed up, overgrown with nettles and brambles.
 
Notes: Bring sufficient food and liquid refreshments. Morning break and lunch stop will be a picnic on the top of the Downs, weather permitting. Possible afternoon break, if time permits, at Brabourne Lees which has a shop where supplies can be topped up. Moderate pace. Woodland facilities. LDWA membership card has a space on it for adding emergency contact details, all members are encouraged to carry this during the walk. It would be helpful to contact the walk leader to confirm if you wish to come on this walk (LDWA membership number required please). This is a joint walk for Kent and London groups.
