Folkestone White Horse
Sat 17th Feb 2024
Walk Details:
*** After I recced the route this week, I have decided to alter the ending so we avoid the noise of walking alongside the M20 and a major road in Folkestone, we will now cut across Sene Valley Golf Club down into Hythe and back along the seafront to Folkestone. This adds approx 1.2 miles to the route but the extra 95% flat with a chance to grab a coffee ***
A slightly shorter than usual walk, ideal for those looking to progress towards the longer distances. We do start the walk with a fairly long & steep climb up to Capel, but once up on the hills the views definitely make up for the effort! There is only one other moderate climb just before the half-way point then it's flat/downhill. Taking in views from the North Downs Way & Elham Valley Way above Folkestone, Peene and Tolsford before coming back past Summerhouse Hill, Newington & through Folkestone. Terrain will be mostly fields (likely to be fairly muddy/boggy in places, more so if it's been raining), tracks & roads/pavements. Approx ascent 1730ft
