All routes climb up towards Crundale then through woods with barely a road to get to Petham. The 15 mile route allows more open views of the dry chalk valleys you're crossing on the way back to the top of The Downs before passing below the Wye Crown on the way back to the finish. The 20 mile route diverges through Bodsham and Hastingleigh before descending the scarp slope of The Downs for a break at Bircholt Forstal. The return to Wye has views of those hills you're not having to climb anymore. The 27 mile route diverges even more across into the Elham valley which it follows for a while before climbing again to descend its own bit of scarp and rejoin at Bircholt Forstal.
