May 2024 Update
Good morning and welcome to the May walks update and the month of the annual Hundred!
Yes, it is that time of year again where seemingly out of nowhere the 100 is almost upon us. Good luck to those of you taking part in the Speyside marshals event next weekend! I’m looking forward to the main event and getting to see all the familiar faces from far and wide within our LDWA family and wondering at what point I will be on the inevitable body wagon!

Whilst on the subject of the hundred for those of you that are not aware it is the turn of Norfolk and Suffolk group to host the event next year. “The Flower of Suffolk Hundred”
We have a fabulous route ready for you and details will be appearing soon on our website which goes live in June. https://ldwa.org.uk/2025Hundred
As you can appreciate with such a large event we will be requiring the assistance of as many volunteers as we can muster. If you feel you could offer some help on either the marshals event which will be held the first bank holiday weekend in May or on the main event itself the 24th - 26th May 2025 please can you contact me with your details and any preference to hours/location you would like to help on. The group weekend Grassington Friday 5th July -8th July 2024.
I will be booking a table shortly for the Saturday evening. Please can I remind anyone thinking of joining us to confirm if they would like including in the booking?

Finally now that the weather is hopefully warming up I really need some walk leaders to come forward and help build up the summer walks program…

Guilty or Not Guilty, Dobbin Stands Accused!
Group Walk - 22ml. 9:00 Free car park adjacent Hadleigh Swimming Pool opposite The Cock Inn, George Street. Post code : IP7 5BP. (GR TM030427). We strike south from Hadleigh to Withermarsh Green, then over the Stour to Langham Curch. The return crosses Fen Bridge & passes through the venue that gives the walk its title.

Group Walk - 18ml. 9:30 Starting at the free parking off the horse roundabout, entry to the July course, Newmarket. Postcode: CB8 0TQ. (GR TL618614). We head east on the Devils Dyke & then pass through Wooditton, the Icknield Way & Upend to arrive at our lunch break at the Lidgate Star. After lunch we head home via Kirtling & Ditton Green to pick up the Dyke again which leads us to the finish

Group Walk - 12.4ml. 9:00 A circular walk starting from Hoxne Village Hall IP21 5AN. Pre meeting Walk-Walking via Upper Billingford, Scole, Brome and Eye. The walk starts and finishes at the meeting venue. The meeting will start at 1:30 after the walk is finished. Agenda issued to members on the 22 March 2024.

Group Walk - 18ml. 9:00 George Street car park, George Street, Brandon, IP27 0BX. Carpark has no charge.. (GR TL785865). From George Street carpark we head out to do a loop around Santon Downham, heading back towards Brandon along Hereward Way / St Edmunds Way. We then head towards Weeting picking up a track past Belvedere Wood leading into Hockwold-cum-Wilton. This is likely to be the lunch stop. After lunch there is some canal & riverside walking before picking up Hereward Way back towards Brandon.
