January 2024 Update

New Year Walks Update

Happy New Year! May the new year bring health, happiness and plenty of walks!!

I hope you are all enjoying the Christmas break and are ready to start the new year off with a bang…...or a 15 mile walk around the Suffolk coast!

This year’s New Years Day walk will be starting in Aldeburgh and finishing with an optional dip in the sea. Details below in the walks program.

Looking forward we really need the support of new walk leaders to take on the social walks. We appreciate some people may have reservations around the responsibility and requirements, however there is a lot of support and information on the national website https://ldwa.org.uk/website/downloads/toolkit/Guidelines_on_Leading_Local_Group_Social_Walks_February_2023.pdf

You may also prefer to speak to other members of the group. Please contact myself for assistance or for expert advice Jon Inett!!

It was suggested in the last committee meeting that walk leaders buddy up and share the GPX route with somebody else on the walk. This enables the leading of the walk to be shared and should the walk leader need to pull out last minute, the walk can still go ahead.

Summer Group Weekend Away

This year we are recommencing the group weekend away. It will be a different format to previous year’s in that we will not be booking the accommodation, just the area in which to base your stay and a full schedule of walks to fill the weekend.

Date Friday 5th July -Sunday 7th July. Area Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales.

Afternoon walk on the Friday meet 1:00pm

Full day of walking on the Saturday followed by a meal in the evening.

Figure of eight walk on the Sunday to enable people who have to be home Sunday night to pull out at lunch time.

Full details to follow later in the year.
