Route
Helston to Penzance. 19 miles (30.78km) moderate. Stunning coastal walk for 8-9 hours to Penzance. Stepping off points available along the route (see below) Start: Blue Anchor Pub, Helston town centre, 10:16 Finish: Penzance bus and railway station, approximately 18:30 Public Transport to the start By Bus From Penzance bus station (beside the railway station), take the 9:20 First U4 bus (Stand E, Falmouth service) to Helston Seven Stars bus stop (town centre), arriving at 10:16. I’ll meet you outside the Blue Anchor pub opposite. By Train If you plan to travel to Penzance by train on Sunday, you will have to do a shorter version of the walk and begin in Porthleven (14 miles): The first train of the day arrives in Penzance at 10:47 am. Make your way from the train station to the bus station just outside (3 mins). Catch the 11:20 am First U4 bus (Stand E, Falmouth service) to Porthleven harbour, arriving at 12:07. The group will meet you at the bus stop at approximately 12:15.

Stepping off points along the route include:
Porthleven harbour (5 miles in), or ...
Praa Sands (10 miles in - the bus stop is near the beach car park), or ...
Marazion village centre (16 miles in) and return by bus: ...
The First U4 bus service runs through all these places once an hour, either to Penzance or Helston.

General Notes
This walk will be day two of Cornwall & Devon's Cornish May Bank Holiday Special. Organisers have requested no dogs please Water, snacks, etc (cafes, pubs, convenience stores) Helston,... and .... Porthleven,... and .... Praa Sands,... and .... Perranuthnoe,... and .... Marazion ... and .... Penzance. Public toilets There are a number along the route, but please note that the ones in Praa Sands marked on the OS Map are now closed (there’s a cafe/bar you could use instead if you purchase a drink/food) What to wear/bring: Water, lunch, snacks... and ... Walking poles - useful on some muddy sections and up some steep steps, but not essential... and .... Shoes - whatever’s most comfortable (lightweight trail runners are fine).... and .... It’s easy to get sunburnt on this section of coast - suncream and lip balm might be useful.... and .... Hat, gloves, waterproofs - the usual!
