35th Chagford Challenge 2025

This event is open to both walkers and runners.

There will be four routes of 10, 17, 23 and 30 miles approximately.

Starting from Chagford Jubilee Hall, 23 & 30 mi walkers will start at 08:00; runners, 10 and 17 mi walkers will start at 09:00

Routes will be emailed in paper and GPX format closer the date.  (If you have entered and NOT received route details, please email Paula below.

Unfortunately, no dogs will be permitted (conditions of our access to lands).

Light refreshments will be provided at at checkpoints; and warm food at the end.

 

Entrants must be able to read a map, follow compass bearings and must have sufficient knowledge, experience, & equipment to take part in this event in all conditions - especially in the event of bad weather.

Entrants are required to have with them a copy of the route either in paper or electronic format.  Due to the variance in cellular signal please ensure if you are using a digital device that you have downloaded an offline version of your map.

Note: all participants must wear suitable clothing and footwear and carry the following kit:

- route description (in any form) & map (in any form) and compass;

- adequate water supply, food & mug;

- adequate waterproofs, warm clothing, emergency survival bag;

- whistle, torch, pencil;

- first aid kit.

All routes are covered by the OS Explorer OL28 Dartmoor (1:25,000) or the OS Landranger 191 (1:50,000) Okehampton & North Dartmoor.

Because the routes have been agreed with the Dartmoor National Park Authority it is important that you keep to them at all times.

 

These events can only take place with the help and support of volunteers (registration, car parking; Jubilee Hall catering, running checkpoints; sweeping).
