November 2026 Update
Welcome to the November walks update.
We have had a very eventful October starting with the return of the Flower of Suffolk challenge. Despite many setbacks involving the original route, the event was extremely successful and enjoyed by all. We could not have asked for more outstanding weather to make the day more memorable. Thank you to Chelle and her team of helpers for all their hard work.
Last weekend was the turn of our neighbours Essex and Herts to host The Essex Walker. This was an excellent opportunity for our members to all enjoy a local challenge event with wonderful hospitality and yet again a lovely sunny day albeit a bit windy!
Next year I am excited to announce that we will be joining forces with the Essex and Herts group to deliver a joint collaboration of The Shotley 50. The event will be held on 11th September 2027 starting from a new venue at Shotley Village Hall. Despite this new HQ the main body of the route remains unaltered taking in both rivers on the Shotley Peninsula and of course the famous Constable Countryside. We have a few alterations involving the new King Charles 111 Coastal Path and minor deviations to new checkpoint locations. We will be looking for marshals to assist on the event and of course you will have the opportunity to take part on the marshals walk scheduled for Saturday 21/Sunday22 August 2027. If you are able to assist please can you contact me janeaudsley@msn.com
Finally I am looking at putting on the New Years Day walk however I am struggling to come up with a new route that involves the traditional coastal walk and is central to Norfolk and Suffolk. A new route I had been planning has been hit with obstacles and I feel I will need to revert back to a previous route used a couple of years ago. Alternatively, if there is anyone else who is happy to lead a new walk please can you contact me it would be very mush appreciated.

It can be difficult at this time of year to be enthusiastic for walks with so much going on, however it is important that we keep on pushing for new walks. If you would like to volunteer please contact me with details. If you are looking for some guidance on leading a walk the NEC have recently updated the website toolkit with ideas you may wish to consider LDWA Toolkit: Resources for Officers, Members and Volunteers
