Happy to take a second walk for Oct and Nov - please let me know. And for Dec too, maybe one early in the month, and one during Christmas week (you know the tv will be rubbish). And if you want to forward plan, then I'll take walks for any dates in 2027.
Walk Locations can be anywhere within the Marches area please - that's Shropshire, Herefordshire, Powys and Monmouthshire. Walks beyond Church Stretton and Ludlow particularly welcome. So north and west of Shrewsbury, Knighton, Presteigne, Kington, Leominster, Hay-on-Wye and Hereford all good. Maybe Hay-On-Wye, LLangollen and Whitchurch? Open to offers. Castles, churches, woods and views. Know of any village fetes? Still stuck for ideas, try online tools like Plotaroute.com , give it a location, a few details like distance, ascent etc, and it'll find you a route nearby (if any exist) or help create one for you.
All I need from you now is three things: a date (Sat/Sun), your name (easy) and a title/location (approximate). That's it. I'll remind you for final details a few weeks before. You're not committed and you can change things if need be. Pair up with a friend if you want (i.e. as joint leaders) and maybe plan to pre-walk. Please email me at thebiggestredofall@yahoo.co.uk . Start place: North Gate in Bridgnorth.
Start time: 08:30am prompt.
Essentials: A 20.5 mile circular walk from beautiful Bridgnorth, crossing the Severn and visiting the historic villages of Rindleford, Worfield and Claverley, and the Dudmaston estate. Finishing with a stretch along the river. Apparently there's 498m of climb although you don't notice it, and we'll be walking on a mixture of footpaths, bridle paths and quiet lanes.
Grade: Green - Easy

Start time: 9am prompt.
Essentials: 16 miles with 3800ft climbing. Please bring enough food and drink as I am estimating a 4pm finish. There will be two official stops for a coffee break and lunch.
Details: This is the perfect time of year to be viewing the beautiful golden browns and reds of the Breidden Hills as we begin autumn. These hills are the home to two long standing monuments, Rodney's Pillar and the less visited Romany Chell Memorial also known as the Gypsy monument. There will be a brief history account at each and photo opportunities.The terrain is varied. We commence and end the walk on an easy stony path but some of the footpaths maybe muddy and a little slippy. There is a short difficult steep and unavoidable climb up to Moel y Golfa to visit the gypsy monument so I highly recommend walking poles and footwear with a good tread. Just after the climb are a few rocks to scramble over. These are not at all difficult as there are ample hand and feet holds but care must be taken. Please don't let this small section put you off. It's all on marked paths.
As well as good boots please bring rain gear just in case.
