*** Our programme is looking a bit sparse. Please volunteer a walk. Happy to take a second walk for July or August too ***
Anywhere within the Marches area please - that's Shropshire, Herefordshire, Powys and Monmouthshire. Walks beyond Church Stretton and Ludlow particularly welcome. So north and west of Shrewsbury, Knighton, Presteigne, Kington, Leominster, Hay-on-Wye and Hereford all good. Maybe Hay-On-Wye, LLangollen and Whitchurch? Open to offers. Castles, churches, woods and views. Know of any village/church fetes? Still stuck for ideas, try online tools like Plotaroute.com , give it a location, a few details like distance, ascent etc, and it'll find you a route nearby (if any exist) or help create one for you.

Start place: Pontesford Hill carpark, SY5 0UH. What3Words: tributes.polished. agreeing. The car park (free, well signed) is approximately 500 yards down Pontesford Hill Road on the left hand side. To reach it turn off A488 adjacent to Wynnstay County Store which is on the eastern boundary of Pontesford.
Start time: 09:00 prompt.
Essentials: ~18 miles distance and 3,000 ft ascent. My estimates; I don't have a gadget. We do all the hard work at the start in the first quarter of the walk. Immediate steep up Pontesford Hill, then long grass paths to Stiperstones. Nipstone Rock for lunch. If too hot, I'll truncate walk with lunch at Stiperstones. Bring all food/drink (none on route). Wear suitable clothing for weather. Bring sun protection. Current temperature forecast is hot. *** Bring plenty of water ***

Start place: Outside Knighton train station, LD7 1DT. Car parking at Offa's Dyke Centre LD7 1EN or Bowling Green Lane Car Park LD7 1DS, both currently £5 but there is usually on-street parking round and about in Knighton.

Essentials: Get 09:26 train to Llanbister Road Station. 17 miles and 3,100 ft of ascent. Bring all food/drink.
Details: Get 09:26 train to Llanbister Road Station (currently £1.90 if booked online but likely to increase closer to the time). Sections of Heart of Wales Line Trail and Glyndwr's Way plus other paths and including Beacon Hill, then east to cross River Teme and head up to Offa's Dyke near Llanfair Hill (close to where October 2025 walk left off), then back along the dyke to Offa's Dyke Centre at Knighton. Approx. 17 miles and 3,100 ft of ascent. Food and drink self-sufficiency will be necessary.
