SKIDDAW SCRAMBLE

1.Girding Loins

6 club members and 3 guests started the walk from High Side Farm - just off the A591 near Bassenthwaite Lake - Trish having cycled from home!
It was a pleasant spring morning with hill walking on little used routes, contouring under Great Knott, Broad End & Dead Crags before joining the Cumbria Way. We passed the impressive Dash Falls before making our way to Skiddaw House where we enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea at the recently refurbished hostel.
Moving onto Sale How & Lonscale Fell we crossed the Skiddaw highway onto Little Man where lunch was enjoyed in glorious sunshine. After reluctantly climbing Skiddaw - another photo opportunity for Barry - we descended via Carlside Tarn, Longside and Ullock Pike and were pleased to find Trish's bike still secure.
After approx. 14 miles and 4000ft of ascent in super weather we then enjoyed replacing lost body fluid in the Pheasant Inn, Keswick!
