COMMITTEE WALK

ON GREY CRAG

29.10.06                                                 COMMITTEE WALK

A beautiful day of warm autumn sunshine greeted 9 members as we left Wet Sleddale dam at 9.15 am having enjoyed the extra hour in bed. Our esteemed Chairman soon dispelled any hopes of cushy walking as he set a cracking pace through pathless bog and heather on the way to Harrop Pike. Grey and Tarn Crags followed before the going eased over Branstree and Selside Pike.

Familiarity did not dull the appreciation of Swindale’s waterfalls as we followed the route of Ring 1 to Truss Gap. A final pull took us over the last ridge and back to the start by 4.30 pm just in time to return for the AGM. A tough 15 miles with 1000 metres of climbing.
