Plenty of free on street parking (unfortunately the large CP at the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope is max stay of 4 hours)
Route from Stanhope over the moors to Rookhope returning to Stanhope via Rookhope Burn and River Wear. An interesting combination of moorland and riverside walking on mostly decent footpaths. Very dry underfoot for recce but conditions could change. The route is a rehash of a walk led by Paul N in 2022 (The Dodgy Gate) with some tweaks. 1600ft (according to OS)
Should take approx 7.5 hours including 2 stops. Ascent approximately 1600ft
