July 2024 Update

Welcome to the July walks update

Summer has finally arrived and although walking in heat has been a bit of a shock to the system it has been lovely to walk in the sunshine and appreciate the long summer days.

We have the group weekend coming up next week so I am hoping this sunny spell holds out for us. One thing that always takes me by surprise is the amount of water required on a hot walk. If it wasn’t for the pub stop on Sunday I would have been in trouble. It served as a stark reminder to always over pack when it comes to hydration.

July is the month of the Rodent Wriggle don’t forget to get your entries in! We are following the same format as previous and offering three distances: 13.5 miles (ideal to bring the family on and introduce them to LDWA events.) 23 miles and a 50K (31.5 miles). I look forward to seeing many familiar faces.

We also have a seaside social walk starting in Hunstanton lead by Jon Inett. This is the ideal walk for mid summer with plenty of opportunities  to hydrate along the way. If you fancy a shorter walk there is an option to walk to Heacham and return via bus to Hunstanton.

Whatever you are doing over the summer whether holidaying or walking I hope you enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!
