Sun 7th Apr 2024

Walk Details:

Event Type
Group Walk
Region
Southern England
Local Group
Dorset
Distance
18ml.
Start Time
09.00
Route
From Win Green c.p., popping into Wiltshire (Ludwell) to climb up Breeze Hill (259m), then into Melbury Down/Wood steep sided valley & up and around Melbury Beacon (263m). (2 Daisies) The skyline will continue along the edge of Compton, Clubmen’s & Fontmell Downs dropping through woods to Washers Pitt, up to Ashmore, down in to Tollard Royal with the final climb along Ashcombe Bottom.

This is a hilly walk on some rough pasture/open access land, muddy slippery narrow and steep paths in places & exposed to the elements: please check weather conditions & wear suitable clothing/footwear. Livestock in some fields. There is the potential for ticks hence recommend insect spray etc (and I tuck trousers in socks in rough grassland and wooded areas)

General Notes
The Daisies are 16 hills 250 metres or higher in Dorset. One of the 16 is actually marked as 249 metres, but there is some dispute. The hills were identified by the Ramblers. They were named the Dorset Daisies by John during a conversation with Jan, many know Daisy from previous Group walks.
