Cerne Giant Challenge event last Sunday March 24th
A message from, Heather-Chair of Dorset LDWA. 

Many of you will be aware that our group organised the Cerne Giant Challenge event last Sunday March 24th.  This event offers a 30-mile and
a 20-mile route and is deceptively challenging with plenty of Dorset ‘bumps’. Over 30 LDWA Dorset group members formed an impressive team
to get and keep the show on the road and the day went without a hitch. We had 148 starters who enjoyed the best weather we had had for weeks
and there were only a handful of retirees. I know that Tracey Lang has emailed all the volunteers but as Group Chair I would like to personally
thank each and every one of you. It was my second year of being on the Cerne Giant organising team and its always a long day but entirely worth
it to see a group of people pulling together for the benefit of the participants.

As an organising team we are well aware that the weather was in our favour on the day however below are some of the comments that have been sent
to us since the event. This is in addition to the thanks and congratulations from participants as they left at the end of the day.

“I would just like to thank everyone who made Sunday such a memorable experience. From getting into the carpark, registering, the checkpoints, the hall
at the end, everybody was just so lovely and helpful. I must thank the lovely gent who was making sure we were fed at the table so we didn’t have to 
get up, that was such, such a treat.” 

“Well done to you and all the Dorset team for another great event.”

“We walked the Cerne event yesterday - loved it - thank you to all the event helpers. Everyone so friendly and amazing food too! “

“Thank you so much everyone for your amazing hosting of the Cerne Giant today. The food was delicious and the route was wonderful. To have such 
lovely weather was an added bonus! And not too much mud. Happy days! Thank you”

A quick reminder to all members that we will be organising the Dorset Doddle linear Challenge event on Sunday 18th August 2024 with the Marshals’ walk 
for Doddle volunteers) taking place on Sunday 21st July 2024. We will need volunteers for both events so please email Richard Lang 
dorset.ldwa.events@gmail.com to offer your help, all assistance is very welcome.
