Dear Walkers,

Dorset Autumn 2024 Group Trip Away in the Peak District

Dorset LDWA has a tradition of organising popular residential walking trips and most
recently these have been to Shropshire and Cumbria. This year Anne is proposing to run a
similar trip but this time to the Peak District where the walking will be hilly, but not
mountainous. To gauge interest and start to identify suitable accommodation, please read
the information below and reply to the questions at the end of the email if you are
interested.

Duration

Most group accommodation is let for either 3 day weekends (Fri – Sun), or 4 days midweek
(Mon –
Fri). The weekend lets are approximately 1.5x the price of the midweek lets despite
being shorter.

Dates

It is proposed to run the trip towards the end of September or start of October 2024.
A choice of
dates is listed below, please tick/respond with all that would be acceptable to
you.

Location and Accommodation

The White Peak and Dark Peak areas both have excellent walking with good views and delightful
river valleys. There are plenty of attractive villages and places of interest to visit like
Bakewell, B
uxton and Chatsworth House. The intention is to book a large property with mostly
en-suite rooms
with 2 / 3 beds, delivery of evening meals may be possible. It may be possible
to book a room for
single use at increased price per person. Those who prefer to be
independent could book their own
accommodation nearby.

Walks

There will be a walk organised every day, including a short walk on the day of arrival. The
walks will be similar in length and technical difficulty to our social walks in Dorset,
but are likely
to include more ascent. Other walk leaders can plan different walks if they
wish, or participants can
take time out to explore the lovely villages / towns and tourist
attractions nearby.

Cost

Cost will depend on availability of accommodation and number of participants but as a rough
guide,
accommodation cost should be less than £220 per person for a 4 day mid-week trip and
less than
£330 per person for a 3 day weekend trip. Cost of food and travel will be in
addition, but car sharing
may be possible.

Does this sound of interest to you? If so, send an expression of interest by 25 th Jan to
