Dorset LDWA

Dear All,

We are very lucky to have had an excellent supply of walks on our programme since we were given permission to resume social walks, however, there is an appetite for more. Several of you have stepped forward and become walk leaders which is fantastic, and those that have, have reported that it was not as daunting as they thought! So why not give it a go?

You can choose to limit the number of people to whatever you like (below 30) and remember, unless you have more than 6 walkers, you don't need to submit a written risk assessment. I know that lots of you are walking as groups of friends at the moment and not advertising the walks through the LDWA. That's great and very understandable, but we do have several newer members who haven't yet built up contacts within the group. It's good to welcome these people to our ranks by offering LDWA walks too.

It is with regret that I report that the days of free parking on Sundays in Dorset Council car parks are coming to an end. Early in 2021 there are plans to make charges at all Dorset Council car parks 7 days a week. This will include Beaminster, Blandford (but not Stour Meadows), Bridport, Dorchester, Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Sherborne, and Sturminster Newton. If you are planning a walk from a car park do check the website in advance.

I hope to receive more walk details from some of you soon, and hope to see you all at our on-line AGM.

Best Wishes,

Anne Brown
