Dorset LDWA

Dear All,

I know you will all be disappointed to learn that we have taken the decision to cancel the social walks programme for July. With social distancing measures and limits on large groups likely to be in place for some time, our traditional style of group walk is unlikely to be allowed in the near future.

The Dorset LDWA Committee and the National LDWA Committee are both considering how walks could be modified in the future to incorporate safe social distancing measures and we will let you know as soon as we think this can be put into place. However, it is likely to involve having a limit on the number of people on each walk. So to cater for all our walkers, we would need more walks on the programme and more walk leaders. To facilitate this it would be really useful to build up our walks database of previously used routes; these could then form a bank of ideas to help those less used to leading.

If you have a GPX track of a previous social walk that you would be happy to add to the website please send it to me at the address below. Please remember only to send routes that are exclusively on rights of way / access land / well recognised permissive paths (routes where you obtained special permission from a landowner should not be sent). You can also send photos of the route and descriptions of interesting places passed along the way. Remember to tell me the date and name of the original walk.

I hope you are all keeping well and maintaining your fitness despite the limitations, and I look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future.
