Just a reminder for those of you not doing the Pewsey Downsaround on 28th April, that I will be leading a walk from The Sika Trail / Forestry Commission Car Park,. Bere Road, Cold Harbour, Wareham BH20 4ER. (Free & Unrestricted parking) starting at 9:00am.

The Route is a 19 miles figure of eight walk to Bere Regis, where we will have a half hour lunch break, hopefully in the grounds of St. John The Baptist Church, an historic and very interesting church, with the option for some to have a quick drink in one of the pubs in Bere Regis if you prefer. The route is generally on good and wide maintained forest tracks and in Dorset country walking terms is a relatively flat walk, with only 1100 ft of elevation.

For those of you that might prefer a shorter walk, there is also an option of just doing a little over 10 miles, by completing the first and last sections of the full 19 mile route, however, you will have to make your own way back (2,6 miles) to the car park, perhaps via the Silent Woman P.H; that is, a short time after the group have there mornings drink / coffee stop at Woolsbarrow Hill Fort, where on a good day views can be found in all directions to Corfe Castle, The Purbeck Hills, Hardy’s Monument and towards Poole in the East..

So if you haven’t got your walking boots on for a while there are two options for you.

Kind Regards

Steve H.
