Dear All,

Firstly I’d like to thank Bill again for having done such a magnificent stint as Walks Secretary for so many years; now it’s my turn and I need your help.

We regularly get 20+ people on a weekend walk, which is a sure sign there is even more scope for social walks, but these will only happen if we have leaders. I would like to offer at least 2 weekend social walks each month, and if everyone that walks leads at least one walk a year, that should be easy to achieve.

It is now time to start planning walks for April – August 2018 and to make things easy, I’m trialling a new system to reserve your date:
1. Firstly, open the Doodle Calendar:  https://doodle.com/poll/wr2m9est86gnq4sc
2. Create a new line by inserting your first name
3. Choose a weekend for your walk
4. In the Comments section put the actual date of the walk (if not a Sun), and the approximate location
You can check dates you may wish to avoid by looking for a tick in the ‘Popular Challenge’ and ‘Public Holiday’ rows (this includes Bank Holidays and Mothering Sunday etc). Do not clash with Dorset Challenges!
You can also see where other walks are planned by scrolling down to the ‘Comments’ section. We ideally need a varied spread around the County.

Soon into the New Year I will be asking you send full details to go into Strider in time for the deadline, so please spend some time over the festive season planning your start point and route.

Please send full details and any updates for walks already on the programme to me: dorset.ldwa.walks@gmail.com AND Martin: dorset.ldwa.secretary@gmail.com
The same applies to Re-tired walks too.

Finally, if anyone feels they need help / support to lead a walk, please do get in touch so we can  help you develop this rewarding skill.

Very many thanks and Happy Christmas!

Anne (Brown)
