Hi All,

Walk will start from the Symondsbury turn-off from the A35 Bridport By-pass (SY447930) at 06:45 and head for Thorncombe Beacon where we will yet again fail to observe the sun rising over distant Portland at 08:10.

Breakfast will be taken at 'Oh Crumbs' 13 West Rivers House, West Allington, Bridport DT6 5BJ  01308 420364

at around 09:45. If you intend having breakfast then please contact me early as I need numbers.(Not necessary, if you have replied to earlier requests for expressions of interest.)

After breakfast there will be a three hour stroll to the East of Bridport towards Shipton Gorge/Burton Bradstock.

At the meridian, the sun's altitude will be a measly 16 deg. (If I mention that the latitude of the Tropic of Capricorn is 23.5 deg S and that the earth's distance from the sun is much greater than its radius then you will know all you need to know to estimate Bridport's latitude to a reasonable approximation. (51 deg). No conferring!
