Dorset LDWA's new challenge event, the Doddle West (a linear event), is on Sunday 18 March 2018 (see https://www.ldwa.org.uk/Dorset/W/5294/doddle-west.html ). As usual, we need volunteers to help with the event, and I am sending out this appeal before the AGM as we need to establish availability sooner than that, to be certain about our resources. If you can spare a few hours or even the whole day to give back something to the group, that would be much appreciated. The different tasks include:
• Helping at the start at Charmouth – setting up, registering and checking in.
• Helping at the two indoor checkpoints at Burton Bradstock and Portesham – setting up, registering entrants, serving food and drink, clearing up.
• Helping at the finish at Poundbury - setting up, registering entrants, helping in the kitchen, serving food and drink, clearing up.
• Clipper point and parking marshal
If you are able to help, please email Bill Peach w.peach@sky.com by 18 November 2017, and indicate your preferred tasks, if any.
I am organising the marshals’ event (for those who are helping on the main event), which takes place on Sunday 25 February. If you have agreed to help on the main event, you can enter the marshals' event (free of charge). The format is similar to the main event, and will have the same two indoor checkpoints at Burton Bradstock and Portesham but the finish at Poundbury will probably be outside. Transport (16 places, first come first served) will be available to move you from Poundbury to Charmouth - more details will be sent nearer the time. Or you can make your own arrangements to get to the start. Four or five people are also needed to help with this event, in addition to Patricia Dashwood and myself.
