-------------------------
Planning is well underway for the group trip to Snowdonia on 12th to 15th October 2017 and we have some really good walking planned.  Currently there are 18 people staying at the youth hostel and a further 10 staying in campervans and local B&Bs.  The youth hostel can sleep 43 so, although it would be quite crowded if we had that many, we still have plenty of space for more people on the trip.  If you are interested in going on the trip and not yet let Jackie know, then please email her for details. ja.farquharson@btinternet.com

The high level routes in Snowdonia are quite spectacular, but are fairly challenging walking; including short sections easy scrambling.  It would also be challenging for the walk leader to keep track of nearly 30 walkers over these high routes.  We have therefore decided to offer a choice of two walks each day for the Friday and Saturday.  One walk will be a challenging high level route (ascending to ridge paths and taking in several summits) and one an easier low level route (there will still be some ascent in order to give good views of the valley, but the terrain will be more like Dorset and less challenging).  You can choose to do both high level or both low level routes, or one of each.  More details of the walks will be provided nearer the time.

Colin knows the mountains well and will be leading the high level routes both days, but we need leaders for the low level routes.  If you would be prepared to lead one or both of the low level routes then please email Colin mail@cdutting.co.uk.  Navigation on the low level routes is quite easy and Colin can provide you with suggested routes with detailed marked up maps, and even a GPX file for those who like to use these.  As walk leader you are of course welcome to make up your own walk; Colin can advise on the quality of a lot of the paths and Jereon (who works at the hostel) knows every path in the area really well.

We hope that the choice of easier and challenging walking routes will encourage more people to register for the trip.
