Our group's Cerne Giant Challenge (see https://www.ldwa.org.uk/Dorset/W/3349/cerne-giant.html) is on Sunday 19 March 2017, only just over two months away. Various members have indicated they will help on the day - please follow this link to see if you are on the list - https://www.dropbox.com/s/cp0xbl3qkygbskl/CG%202017%20volunteers%20-%20edited.xlsx?dl=0 . If you are not on the list, we still need about 6-8 more volunteers. If you can spare a few hours or even the whole day to give back something to the group, that would be much appreciated. The different tasks include:
• Helping at HQ at Cerne Abbas – setting up, registering and checking in, helping in the kitchen, serving food and clearing up
• Helping at the three checkpoints at Lyscombe Chapel, Buckland Newton, and Sydling St Nicholas – setting up, registering entrants, serving food and drink, clearing up.
• Car parking supervision
• Marshalling at two manned clip points, and sweeping
The marshals’ event takes place on Sunday 26 February. If you are down to help on the main event, you can enter the marshals' event, either the 31 mile or 20 mile route. The format is similar to the main event, and will be fully supported, except that the checkpoint at Sydling SN will be outdoors as will the start and finish at Cerne Abbas. If you haven't done a challenge event before, it would be a good way to get you started. One or two people are also still needed to help with this event. If you want to enter (or help) with this event, please let me know, and indicate which route you intend to do.
Finally, I must mention the important subject of cakes (that is baking them not eating them). If you are able to make a cake or cakes for either event that will be great - please email Teresa Brooker and Debbie Murphy.
