We are organising a new Challenge Walk this year........Brendon Incline.........Sat August 15th.

The event is in Strider, and entries are by SiEntries. Start is from Wheddon Cross near Minehead.

The only Challenge Walk ever to have been held in this area was the Exmoor 100 which did a very small section of it. It is a wonderfully varied area. Dunkery Beacon. Deep remote combes. Dunster, the jewel in the crown of Exmoor, and the rarely walked and unspoilt Brendon Hills with “The Incline” a disused cable operated mineral railway that was used to carry iron ore down from the Brendon Hills.  It really is a superb route.

The walk caters for all. Either 26 miles in 11 hours with transport back from CP5. Or 33 miles in 12 hours for the fitter and faster. The choice can be made on the day at CP5.

Any new Challenge Walk tends to struggle to get entrants and we know that this area is quite a distance to get at and has quite a sparse catchment area. We have a reasonable entry so far but more would be very welcome to make it viable and make it worthwhile for putting on in future years.

Perhaps you could mention this to your Group and hopefully some will be tempted to enter.

Many thanks,

David Holland
