Dear walkers,

Volunteers Needed – Cerne Giant 2024 – Sunday 24 March 2024

The Dorset LDWA Group will be running this again for 2024 after the great success of the 
2023 event.

Entries are coming in, some people have already come forward to offer to help on the day 
but more helpers are needed.  If you can assist please email traceylang@lineone.net. 

Any member helping is encouraged to claim 25p per mile for using their vehicle from home 
for the day to undertake their role.

We are looking for help as follows:

Before the event:

• Checking the paths and ensuring the walk notes are clear to those not familiar to the 
  route.

• Assist Anne and Ian for the Marshals’ event on 12 March 2024.

On the day:

• Extra sweepers for parts of the route.

• Car parking marshals for Cerne Abbas from 6.30am, we again have use of the doctors' 
  surgery and  nearby field. Pete S and his son are running this team. Bacon rolls and 
  hot drinks will be available for early morning helpers after the event has started.  

• Cerne Abbas HQ - setting up starts from 6.30am, checking in and dealing with entrants’
  queries. Catering / Finish from 12:30 to 21:00. A meal will be served at the end in 
  Cerne Abbas village hall. The catering team will cook and serve food to those finishing
  (or retiring from) the event. Also clearing the hall at the end. Pat and Sue B with 
  Angela are running the catering, Robert is running the front of house.
  
  Help at Lyscombe Chapel checkpoint, John and Sue Widdowson are in charge.

• Help at Buckland Newton checkpoints, Deirdre is in charge.

• Manning of Minterne Magna clip point.

• Help at Sydling St Nicholas checkpoint, Roger and Anne Frost are in charge.

• A driver based at Cerne who will move between checkpoints as required, maybe assist 
  anyone injured. 

Please let me know if you are able to help, also if there is a role that you would (or would
not) like.

The Cerne Giant 2024 marshals’ event is on Sunday 10 March 2024, all volunteers are invited
to enter this 20/30 mile event, which Anne is organising.
