Dear Member

Dorset Doddle 2023 – another hugely successful challenge event!

On behalf of the Dorset Group committee, I would like to say a massive “thank you” to everyone who worked so hard to make the day such a success.

None of our challenge events could run without so very many willing volunteers, and the Dorset Doddle is no exception.  From the coach loaders who started at 7am, the registration/start team who were onsite in Weymouth at 7.30am, the marshals at checkpoints and clipper points and the catering team who made the finishers so welcome and fed and watered them and didn't get away until after 10pm. There were many kind comments and thanks on the day, some are listed below.

Just to remind you that the Dorset Group AGM will be held at Durweston Village Hall on 19 November 2023.  There will be a short morning walk and a Group lunch with a talk from Anne Brown on her Alpine trip entitled “The Dream Way”. The formal business of the AGM will follow Anne’s talk.  The AGM is open to Dorset Primary members only.

We look forward to 2024 and further Challenge events, meanwhile please feel free to join us on one of the many social walks and details on these can be found LDWA Dorset website. https://ldwa.org.uk/Dorset/E/0/future-events-list.html

Best wishes,

Heather

I took part in yesterday's walk and have to say what an excellent event it was with superb organisation and support.

Can you please pass my thanks onto all of the marshals and helpers who made the event so great.

Thank you so much to you and all your team of marshals for yesterday's Doddle.  I was your last finisher so extra thanks to your team for them all holding on well after your official closing time - apologies again for the lateness.  Thanks also to your senior marshal at Hill Bottom for his encouragement to carry on and go for it, and to the two Steves sweeping for their patient support and welcome encouragement - much appreciated.  As I was fundraising for West Dorset MND, it was important for me to finish to help with the fundraising.

I just wanted to thank you and your team of volunteers who made yesterday's walk so enjoyable and run so smoothly. In order to allow us to have such a great walk, I know that so much work has gone on behind the scenes both before and during the event.

Checkpoint volunteers were incredibly friendly, helpful and supportive and the kindness of those at the end in bringing food and drink to the tables was very much appreciated.

That was the first time I had done this walk and had a really fantastic day.

Many thanks to all involved.

Fabulous Dorset Doddle held by Dorset LDWA yesterday. Its definitely a challenge!! I spoke to some lovely people, was encouraged and looked after by the amazing marshals, even if they must have been pulling my leg about there being 'a nice flat stretch to the end....
