Dorset LDWA

Hello

I wonder if you might have some time, however little, and some expertise or experience in any area of IT that you would be prepared to share with our IT Team?  We have a dedicated, but small, team who work wonders with our current website and who will be involved as we transition to our new site over the next couple of years.  However, we are spread very thinly and it would be good to have some support and back up in all areas.

If you think you might be able to help in any of the following it would be good to hear from you:

  1. Email.  We urgently need a replacement for Richard Handford, our email support.  Richard is standing down from his long standing role supporting email, and it would be ideal to be able to identify a replacement as soon as possible so they can do a handover with Richard and have some support for a transition period before he leaves.
  2. Monitoring the IT mailbox.   All requests that come into the IT team come to a single central mailbox which is monitored and the requests are added to a Jobs Board and  passed out to the various members of the IT Team depending on the nature of the request.
  3. Working with Etempa - our third party support.  Requests that can’t be done by LDWA volunteers get passed to Etampa.  These are normally enhancement or development requests.  This area includes maintaining the jobs board, prioritising work, answering Etempa queries, organising UAT, releases etc.
  4. Using Uptime Robot to get notified of website outages Training would be given for anyone willing to support this area, which includes re-starting Apache as necessary when the site crashes.
  5. Website changes. We are almost totally dependent on a single person for website changes.  It would be beneficial to have one or two more volunteers with the skills to work alongside Michael Headley to assist with the workload, and to act as back up if Michael is unavailable for any reason
  6. Advising on the future direction.  We are about to form a short life working group to identify and agree the scope and priorities for the new LDWA website/business system and to support the preparation of the tender documents.  We are looking for further volunteers to join this working group, so if you have any expertise or experience in this area we'd like to hear from you.

We have a short monthly catch up meeting to share information and deal with any issues or queries on requests on the Jobs Board so that we are all informed about what is going on and we can help and support each other.

If you would like any further information on any of the above roles from a-e please contact Tim Bedwell on LDWAITManager@ldwa.org.uk who can provide more details.

If you would like to know more about the short life working group considering the future website please contact Julie Cribb, on ChaIr@ldwa.org.uk

If you would like to volunteer for any of the roles please contact Richard May on richard@inter-logic.co.uk

Thank you

Julie Cribb
