Dear Member,

You are invited to attend the AGM of the Dorset Group of the Long Distance Walkers Association, on Sunday 11 December 2022 at Durweston Village Hall.

Prior to the AGM there will be a group walk in the morning and, for those who are attending the AGM, a buffet lunch will be available at the village hall. The group will pay for your lunch, if you are a primary member of the Dorset Group and you attend the AGM afterwards.

Only primary members of the group can attend the AGM. If you wish to include someone who has primary membership of a different LDWA group, or who is not an LDWA member, this will need to be agreed by the committee, so please let me know well in advance.

Nominations for Officers and Committee Members

Please send to me, at dorset.ldwa.secretary@gmail.com nominations for officers and ordinary committee members. These must be received by me no later than four weeks before the AGM, which is by Sunday 13 November 2022. Nominations are very welcome for any of the positions, or to be an ordinary member of the committee. The offices are Chair, Group Secretary, Treasurer, Walks Secretary and Challenge Events Secretary. Nominations must have a proposer and a seconder and, of course, the agreement of the person nominated.

If you want to know more about what being on the committee involves, or details of any of the offices, please contact me or any member of the committee. We will be happy to help you, so please don't be put off from enquiring 

Please note, I will be standing down at this year’s AGM and the group will need a new Group Secretary from that date. On 3 October I sent an email to you all on this subject, to which, unfortunately, I’ve had no response. So please think seriously about whether you could step up to help out the group in this way. I will be happy to provide help and mentoring for anyone willing to take on this role. If a new Group Secretary cannot be found a procedure to dissolve the group, as set out in our constitution, will need to take place.

Motions

Motions for consideration at the AGM must be sent to me at dorset.ldwa.secretary@gmail.com no later than four weeks before the AGM, which is by Sunday 13 November 2022.  All motions must have a proposer and a seconder.

I will send out the agenda for the AGM by Sunday 27 October, including details of the nominations and motions received. I will also send an email soon with more information regarding the buffet lunch and how to book your place for it.
