HQ at Queen Elizabeth School

As HQ co-ordinator I feel the weekend went as smoothly as it could of. This was the first 100 I've had any involvement with and I hope its not my last.

I had a team of people helping from all over. Fellow LDWA members and also friends from other walking clubs. We teamed up on the Friday evening and made up 550 ish snack packs, put up signs round HQ and set up the halls for the Saturday morning and the weekend ahead.

All of these guys worked tremendously hard all weekend and I know each and everyone of them thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hopefully we all greeted and served the retirees and finishes with a welcoming smile, we collected their bags and made everyone comfortable, with tea, coffee, beer and food and the odd bowl of water for tired and blistered feet.

We had people coming back from checkpoints at all hours, they all mucked in too. It was fantastic to see everyone helping each other out.

A special mention goes to John Stewart who stayed all weekend to help out,  he manned the gents showers ALL weekend, he said he had a great time, he reminisced with old friends, he sat in his comfy chair and dozed off a few times when it was quiet.. lol..

This for me this was one remarkable and never to be forgotten weekend..
