Getting to the Start


The following information about getting to the start and where to leave your car may be useful:

Whilst there are no facilities for sleeping overnight in the Town Hall, Wadebridge on Friday 24 May, such facilities are available at Teignmouth Community School, particularly for those wishing to take the early morning coach from the School to Wadebridge on Saturday 25 May. ****** This facility is now full and no further requests for overnight parking at the school can be accepted (posted 26 March 2013)

The walk will finish at:

Teignmouth Community School, Exeter Road, Teignmouth. Devon TQ14 9HZ

Coaches will be available to take those entrants who have booked a seat, from Teignmouth Community School to Wadebridge Town Hall as detailed below.  Seats will not be available on the day unless pre-booked.

Access to the Teignmouth Community School premises and its parking facilities will be available from 6pm on Friday 24 May, once all pupils have left and Cornwall & Devon LDWA Group are in situ.

Parking, overnight sleeping and washing facilities will then be available on site.

However access to the premises will not be available between the hours of midnight on Friday 24 May, and at 4am on Saturday 25 May to ensure that those already sleeping on site will not be disturbed .  Following the end of the Event, the School premises must be vacated by 12.30pm on Monday 27 May.

Those wishing to stay overnight at Teignmouth before the start must advise the organisers beforehand, so that parking may be allocated. Space is limited and only those actually sleeping at Teignmouth can be accommodated on the school site.

Getting to the Start:

Coach from Teignmouth

Coaches will leave from Teignmouth Community School on Saturday morning between 6am and 6.30am; the journey to Wadebridge should take about 2 hours, subject to Bank Holiday traffic.

Entrants wishing to use this facility will be charged £8.00, but will be able to arrive at Teignmouth Community School from 6pm on Friday 24 May 2013., where parking, overnight sleeping and washing facilities will be available.  The town and the nearby villages offer a range of hotels and B & B’s for those who prefer the comfort of a bed.  Teignmouth itself offers numerous pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes, all within easy reach of the School.  Direct to Wadebridge

An option for those wishing to avoid the early morning start from Teignmouth could be to consider travelling to Devon on the Thursday or Friday.  Parking in Teignmouth from 1.30pm on Friday 24th May 2013 has now been arranged for those wishing to leave their car at Teignmouth to get an afternoon train or lift with friends and is explained on a separate page. Public buses run between Bodmin and Wadebridge on a regular basis, enabling entrants to spend a relaxing overnight stay in a local B & B or hotel.  Please note that  parking at Teignmouth Community School will only be available for those staying at the school overnight. Another option for those driving to the start at Wadebridge is to book accommodation nearby for the night or nights before – why not take the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful countryside for a few days beforehand, and start the Event relaxed and raring to go ?

Light refreshments including bacon butties will be available at Wadebridge Town Hall from 7am on Saturday morning when registration opens.

Please note there are no parking facilities available at Wadebridge Town Hall – entrants and supporters will need to use nearby public car parks.
