Blanchland meander

Walk Details:
Blanchland, Blanchland Moor, Slaley Forest, Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Edmundbyers Common, Buckshott Fell, Blanchland.
A chance to witness the late autumn splendor around the picturesque medieval village of Blanchland.
The route takes us across heather clad moorland, through pine scented forests, & sheep grazed farmland before descending down to the sparkling waters of Derwent Reservoir. Here with flushing toilets & picnic tables en route, we follow its shoreline before crossing the dam on its eastern flank. Continuing, we head up to the delightful village of Edmundbyers & on to its common, beyond. From there we are rewarded with magnificent views of the distant Stanhope Common & it's surrounding hills. Traversing across well defined moorland paths, we return to Blanchland, where an optional cold drink next to a blazing log fire, in the The Lord Crewe Arms, awaits.
