Meet 8.30am at DH3 4QN. (Cambridge Drive, Great Lumley) Please park considerately on the road. To coincide with the Great Lumley Festival, Julie Carolan is leading a walk from her home village in County Durham

Circular walk which starts going through the village green, the venue of the Great Lumley Festival. Feel free to bring loose change as those interested can have a look around stalls etc on return. They sell homemade cakes, jams etc. Google Lumley festival, more information on their facebook page. We will be heading down scorers lane to Castle Dene, through the forest onto the Weardale Way. Past Lumley Castle down to Chester le street park & along the river. Through Picktree woods & along to Fatfield before heading west up to Penshaw Monument for our lunch break. Return back via the Weardale Way & the Great North Forest Trail back into Great Lumley where the festival has a small beer tent, live music & stalls. The festival is small so don't build up any high expectations.... This is an easy social walk which will be approximately 16/17mls
