Six of us convene in two different car parks at the start but once united we set off up the Terraced Gardens to the Pigeon Tower.  Over the moor land track to the Belmont - Rivington road and then along the, now paved, path to Great Hill (no Carmel, it's not the Pennine Way).  Down from Great Hill and stop for coffee at Hollinshead Hall (ruin).  Up and over Darwen Moor to the A666 and down to walk along the banks of Turton and Entwistle reservoir - taking our lunch here.  Up and over Turton Heights and then just Winter Hill between us and the finish of the walk.  A drink stop at the top of the climb at Winter Hill and then all the way down hill back to the cars.  Finished soon after half past three.  Just over 20 miles and nearly 3,000' of ascent.  Thanks to Norman, Carmel, Ian, Ron and Alf for their company.
