2016 02 11 Weir off to the Park

The panarama plate on Werneth Low

A bright sunny morning greeted us which after weeks of wet weather was much appreciated. Unfortunately Norman hit traffic problems and missed the walk due to late arrival.

Seven of us set off from Stalybridge, heading firstly through Cheetham Park, on to Werneth Low before a descent to Etherow Country Park for morning break. Broadbottom for lunch and those with a modicum of climbing skills secured a spot overlooking the viaduct and valley.

Taking our lives in our hands we crossed the A57 an climbed up to Hobson Moor Quarry before descending to Walkerwood Res, Stalybridge Country Park and a short leg on the canal to finish.

Good weather, good company and some excellent views. Approx 3000' ascent and just over 17 miles. Thanks for a great walk Val.
