A horrendous weather forecast didn't deter a few hardy souls and 8 of us set off towards Holme before a steep climb up to the Holme Valley Circular Way with excellent views of the Holmfirth below us. On to the Kirklees Way through Hade Edge and alongside a narrow stream to reach Hepworth.

A short break to refuel, then on toward Winscar Reservoir. Sounded like packs of hounds loose on the moors above, but not in our direction as we headed to the top of Snailsden Edge. Descent to stunning views of the Ramsden Valley and Holme village beyond. We kept to higher level to pass the mast on Holme Moss and kept on a high level path to emerge above Issues Clough on Black Hill. A nice easy finish with a stroll along Issues Road to Holme and then field paths back to Digley Res.

A good turnout in the conditions and a good varied walk. Home in time for tea with just over 21 miles completed.
