2015 07 11 Pendle Three Peaks

I was pleased with the size of the group given that the 2nd of the 3 Feathers took place on the same day.  So nine of us set off in good spirits on what was a very challenging walk over varied terrain.  Anne Webb had celebrated her 50th birthday during the week and was keen to complete a 50k walk as part of her 50th year challenges.  As you can see from the pictures she decided to embark on a literal trig topping tromp and so it was with some help from a friend she managed to seat herself on each of the three trigs. The group photo was taken in the fireplace of the ruins at Wycoller.  Ian Hull was delighted to see a rather large owl on Bouldsworth Hill and Norman did a sterling job for me back marking.   Unfortunately Helen was a bit out of sorts and so her + Fred decided to call it a day at the lunch stop.  Karen was extremely disappointed when a knee injury forced her to retire after completing almost 24 mile of the route and so it was that just six of us completed the whole route, (although I did thoroughly test Jackies’ recovering ankle injury).   Nicky very kindly met up with us a couple of times and provided a variety of snacks and additional fluid which was most welcome given that it was a rather warm day.  We were blessed with good weather for most of the day and so the group were able to appreciate the many lovely views the walk had to offer.
