THURSDAY November 13th Up & Over

12 walkers set off from Wards Resevoir at Belmont-known as the Blue Lagoon. We had a new walker to welcome Vicente from Spain. So as the walks title suggested we went up & over to the TV mast & a welcome early morning coffee stop at Rivington Barn. From there we visited the castle, which suprisingly some people hadn`t seen before. We walked towards Horwich and Matchmoor Rd where we enjoyed lunch on the picnic tables at Barrowbridge after the 63 steps. The weather was kind to us and not too muddy under foot. We dodged the golf balls on Turton Golf course then climbed up to the stone circle on Cheetham hill, (the mini stone henge as Vicente said, we explained what the Trig point was). It was a bit of a dodge around the mud up on top, we  made our way onto Catherines Edge. Finishing for 3.45pm just at dusk with a walk around the Lagoon & 20 miles.
