A circular walk around Holmfirth

My thanks to South Pennine for allowing me the privilege of Guest Walk Leader.
We were blessed with good weather, a great bunch of walkers and avoided "Hurricane Bertha".

22 set out and 19 returned (no we did not lose anyone) they left by kind permission of the walk
leader. The conditions under foot were good but some rarely used paths had become overgrown,
making our passage difficult.
First stop should have been "Norton Wood" but some kind person had removed the picnic tables,
so we pressed on up hill to Hepworth village.
My planned lunch break was beyond Fulstone, a nice quiet village supporting a set of stocks for
for two people, but with perfect weather we stopped on higher ground.
I satisfied one or two walkers by visiting some locations where Last of the summer wine was
filmed including Sid's Café and the legendary "Nora Battys" place.

After the photo session we made ready for the climb out of Holmfirth with a little incentive of
a pub stop at Upperthong. Needless to say the pace suddenly increased.
After refreshments and a belly full of ale, we had one hours walking, arriving back around 4.30pm
with a group of (I hope) satisfied walkers.
