You are invited to attend the AGM of the Dorset Group of the Long Distance Walkers Association, which will be held online, via Zoom, at 10.00 am on Sunday 8 November 2020. For those not familiar with using Zoom, a practice session will be arranged prior to the AGM, to make sure those wishing to join the meeting can do so. Details of this will be sent out nearer the time.

Only primary members of the group can attend the AGM. If you want to include someone who has primary membership of a different LDWA group, or who is not an LDWA member, this will need to be agreed by the committee, so please let me know well in advance.

Nominations for Officers and Committee Members

Please send to me, at dorset.ldwa.secretary@gmail.com nominations for officers and ordinary committee members. These must be received by me no later than four weeks before the AGM, i.e. by Sunday 11 October. Nominations are very welcome for any of the positions, or to be an ordinary member of the committee. We are would very much like to expand the committee and currently have three vacancies. The offices are Chair, Group Secretary, Treasurer, Walks Secretary and Events Secretary. Nominations must have a proposer and a seconder and, of course, the agreement of the person nominated.

If you want to know more about what being on the committee involves, or details of any of the offices, any member of the committee will be happy to help you and, if needed, will find someone who knows more about it to talk to you. Please don't be put off from enquiring, we could do with your help!

Please note: Our Chair, Chris Pitt, will have served four terms by the time of this year’s AGM. Consequently, under the terms of our group constitution, he should not generally continue in this role. The committee are therefore, particularly keen to hear from anyone who could consider becoming Chair, if not at the AGM, perhaps in the near future. Help and mentoring will be available if needed.

Motions

Motions for consideration at the AGM must be sent to me at dorset.ldwa.secretary@gmail.com no later than four weeks before the AGM ie. by Sunday 11 October. All motions must have a proposer and a seconder.

I will send out the agenda for the AGM by Sunday 25 October, including details of the nominations and motions received. 

Annual accounts

Our treasurer, Robert Powell, has in the past provided a hard copy of the annual accounts to those attending the AGM. As this will not be possible this year, anyone wishing to have a copy in advance of the meeting, should email him at dorset.ldwa.treasurer@gmail.com to request one.
