Dear All,

Further to my email yesterday I would like to reinforce that all social walks for the foreseeable future will be Pre-book only and limited to Primary Dorset members. At the moment numbers are limited to 5 + leader on each walk so please, only book one walk at a time, to give everyone the chance to resume some walking if they want. We now need to build up a comprehensive programme of walks to cater for all the members who are likely to want to attend. Could you lead a walk?

Perhaps you could lead a half day walk around some of the paths that you used during lockdown? Perhaps a short walk and a picnic lunch? Perhaps a weekday evening walk? Of course, you can still offer a traditional full day-long walk too. If you’re stuck for ideas, there are details of previous walks on our walk archive, feel free to repeat old walks or adapt them (GPX files can be opened and viewed free on www.bikehike.co.uk).

Send walk details to me at dorset.ldwa.walks@gmail.com preferably including a phone number for members to contact you to make a booking. Details will not be published in Strider, but will be displayed on Dorset LDWA website.  If you prefer not to display contact details on the web, please let me know and I will handle reservations for you. NB Contact details are only displayed until the walk takes place, they are then removed before the walk is added to the archive.

To book on a walk, check the website regularly as walks may be added at short notice, contact the leader and tell them your name and membership number, then if you are lucky enough to secure a place, check the website again just before the walk for any amendments.

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
