Dear All,

Please see message below from Colin who has kindly agreed to step in and lead the walk on Sunday. There is no need to book in advance:

The Dorset LDWA annual winter solstice walk will be happening next Sunday, please note the early start time of 07:45 so we can see the sunrise from the Roman temple at Maiden Castle, which should happen at about 08:09.  We will then head off to Dorchester for Breakfast (free for Dorset Group primary members).

The planned route is 20 miles, but several people have questioned this distance if the weather is really bad.  Rest assured I have an alternative route that removes just over 3 miles in the case of bad weather.  This however does remove the planned afternoon pub stop (the breakfast pub stop will still happen).  Anne and Ian Brown will also so be taking a shorter route back, so if you do not want to do the full 20 miles then there is an option to walk back with them. This will be 14 - 15 miles in total and involve some road walking.

The current weather forecast is for light showers and sunny intervals so at the moment there is probably a 50/50 chance of seeing a good sunrise, let's hope it improves.

Colin
