Dorset LDWA

Dear All,

You will have received details about the Dorset LDWA AGM on Sun 1st Dec. This is to tell you about the morning walk that will precede lunch and the AGM.

It is only a 7.5mile walk starting at 9.00 to give us plenty of time to be back at the Kingcombe Centre by 12.30. There will then be time to change if necessary before lunch and the AGM. All are welcome on the walk, but lunch and the AGM is for Primary Dorset members only.

Please see message below from Dave G, our walk leader, giving some background information about the route:

Up the Wessex and Down the Jubilee -  7.5 miles

Start 09:00 Kincombe Centre, Lower Kingcombe. (SY554990).

The Wessex Ridgeway is a long-distance footpath in southwest England. It runs 136 miles from Marlborough in Wiltshire to Lyme Regis in Dorset, via the northern edge of Salisbury Plain and across Cranborne Chase.

The Jubilee Trail is a long distance footpath created in 1995 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ramblers Association. It runs 88 miles from Forde Abbey on the Somerset border to Bokerley Dyke on Dorset's eastern border near to the intersection of Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

In Dorset, the two LDP's cross three times, the Western Slope of Pilsdon Pen, Coles Cross and Synderford, all in the West of the County. At  Lower Kingcombe, they meet but do not cross.

I hope to see as many of you as possible there, and remember to keep those nominations for committee rolling in:

No nominations = No committee = No  Dorset LDWA!
