Points about this walk, supplementary to what’s on the website and in Strider. Mainly to provide you with some info about each church - see link at end.

Hazards. We will be crossing the A30 (which is dual carriageway with crossing point) a little bit after Over Compton, and walking alongside it for a short distance (wide verge), so please take extreme care at this point. Traffic is very fast!! Also take care crossing railway line before Thornford. Generally there were serious amounts of mud and one track under water but it may have dried up a bit.

Shortly after this we will be taking a non-ROW through a farmyard, but the farmer has agreed we can do it (I hope he remembers my chat with him!)

There are may or may not be a pub stop depending on where we are at around lunchtime, so please bring a packed lunch. I will not be stopping for more than 30 mins. At the end there is the famous ice cream parlour – we will not be going past it, but it is very close to the car park, Ian B knows where it is!

Please remember the clocks go forward on Saturday night.

As the name suggests I thought we would take in a few of the churches to the west and south of Sherborne.. If you aren’t interested in churches it may not be the walk for you. The walk is slightly less than the 20 miles advertised, but is more than made up for in time as would expect to spend about 10 mins. at each church, one of which is being opened especially for us. Here is a link to a few things to look out for at each church:-
