Social Walks Programme April – Aug 2019, your LDWA needs you!
Dear All,
It is once again time to start planning our next exciting programme ready for the Spring edition of Strider; please could you give some thought over Xmas / New Year to leading a walk.
As I explained at the AGM, we have a programme of linear walks beginning next spring and the aim is to complete the Stour Valley Way, the Leland Trail and the Liberty Trail (in the autumn). There will be one linear walk each month, and for these, Dorset LDWA will fund up to 2 minibuses (for members) to ferry people from their cars at the finish, to the start of each day’s walk. There are currently 2 legs which need a leader; Stour Valley Way from Wimborne to Shillingston in May, and Leland Trail from North Cadbury to Ham Hill (Somerset) in August. Similarly if you would like to devise your own circular walk, plan a location and a date, and fill in the Doodle calendar. If you’re not comfortable with filling in the on-line Doodle calendar just put the details in an email to me: dorset.ldwa.walks@gmail.com The only dates you need to avoid are Dorset Challenge event dates, but I’ve also indicated other significant dates that may be important to you (listed in Comments at bottom of page), to aid your planning. I will need full details of all walks by Sat 19th Jan. Let’s try to get a good variety of walks across the County again please.
If you haven’t led a walk before we can offer whatever support you need to get you started, just ask. Several members led their first walk last year and all were successful and found it both enjoyable and rewarding.
Finally, there are still some vacant dates from January to April so if you would like to lead a walk during this time just let me know the details and we will put it on the website and send out an email to members. Re:Tired walks are arranged regularly in this way.
