---------------------

After the great success of the Dorset Group’s  Brecon trip this October, it was proposed that we should have a repeat performance at another YHA.  Colin has a lot of experience walking from Idwal Cottage YHA in Snowdonia, so has offered to lead some walks from there, Jackie has offered to organise the trip.

Similar to the Brecon trip it is proposed to travel up on Thursday 12th October 2017 having a short walk on the way up, walk from the hostel on Friday and Saturday, then after a Sunday morning walk, travel back on 15th October.

A provisional booking for the whole hostel, and a small hut in the hostel grounds, has been made for the three nights and we need to confirm this booking  by 28th November (the day after the Group AGM).

As we have booked the whole hostel so the cost per person will be dependent on the number we have going.  In theory the hostel can take 36 plus a further 7 in the hut, but this would be quite crowded, particularly for those in the hut.  To give you an idea if we had 26 people in the hostel, as we did in Brecon, this would work out at £105 each plus food and transport.

Idwal Cottage Youth Hostel is totally self catering, but has a very large and well equipped kitchen, so we would propose to have a roster of jobs as we have done with other self catering trips away.

If those wishing to go on the trip are interested we can arrange minibuses as we did for Brecon.

Details of the hostel can be found here: http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/idwal and the following YouTube clip shows the road approaching the hostel along the bottom of the Ogwen Valley: https://youtu.be/3Y8KhlpawKM.

Walking in Snowdonia is quite challenging, so although we will not cover huge distances each day, there will be considerable sections where we will be going uphill quite steeply; but nothing that a good LDWA walker can’t handle and the views at the top are well worth it (Legal Note: views are not guaranteed, this is Wales).

If you are interested in this trip to Snowdonia then please let Jackie ja.farquharson@btinternet.com or Colin mail@cdutting.co.uk know prior to the AGM on 27th November.
