Dorset Historic Churches Trust is organising their annual ‘Ride and Stride’ event on 12th September. This is an opportunity to raise funds for the upkeep of our historic buildings by taking part in a self managed sponsored trip by bike or on foot round as many churches as you can get in between 10.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.

The website at www.dhct.org gives more information. It includes all the churches and chapels in Dorset. Many churches will have refreshments on offer.

Mike and I have decided to do the event starting from St John’s Church in Tolpuddle and taking in Dewlish, Cheselbourne, Melcombe Horsey, Hilton, Milton Abbas, Milbourne St Andrew, and possibly Affpuddle. This is about 15 miles. If I am feeling energetic,  and the time goes well, we might include some of the Winterbournes - 3 more churches and 5 more miles.

The "Ride and  Stride"  event is the day before our  joint social walk with BBN LDWA Group  which John Chesher is leading, so we can have a double jolly weekend.
