Walk Report

Cawdor Castle had kindly given permission for use of its car park where eight walkers plus two dogs joined the walk leader for the start at 09:30, setting off at 09:35. The route started off through mature, mainly deciduous woodland towards the Glengeoullie Bridge where we had a brief snack and drink stop. The weather was warm, varying from cloud cover to sunshine and little wind, with a welcome light breeze once we were out on the moors. The few ford crossings were little more than a trickle, and the heather was in full bloom. We stopped for lunch where some well-weathered logs provided good seating, before heading back towards Cawdor on a short stretch of minor country road, then back onto the moor in a loop eventually joining the entry track back to Glengeoullie Bridge, and taking a different woodland route back to the castle where some of us had an ice-cream stop before heading home.
